Your Guide for All Things Disney Transportation

If there's one thing about Disney World that I love, it's that they provide free transportation to their parks and resorts. Today I'm going to be talking about the different methods of transportation on property and how to get around Disney World. Recently, I've gotten some messages asking about what I personally do if I rent a car or take the bus. So here's your guide to everything transportation!

The best new addition is the Disney Skyliner which goes to Epcot and Hollywood Studios which connects to a resort line with Pop Century, The Riviera, Caribbean Beach, and Art of Animation. If you have a fear of heights however, I would definitely recommend avoiding the Skyliner as you are pretty high up but I feel like the pros outweigh the cons. This steady gondola ride that gets you from point a to point b takes about 15 minutes. I happen to love the Skyliner and I think you will to as you glide over the Everglades to get you to your next Disney destination.

The monorail is a classic at Disney World

On your Magic Kingdom day, you will have to take the monorail because MK does not have a parking lot! The reason behind this is to avoid traffic of crowds so what you have to do is park at the TTC (Transportation & Ticket Center) and ride the monorail over to the park. The monorail is one of my favorite ways to get around as it's super fast, but sometimes you have to wait for the next one to come in if the other one is crowded. No one likes a crowded monorail! There's also a separate monorail that takes you to Epcot from the TTC as well.

Riding on a Water Taxi is so relaxing

If you're not too fond on fast moving gondolas or monorails, you can ride on a water taxi! These are technically boats, that take you to either Epcot or Hollywood Studios which resorts connect to the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, and the Swan & Dolphin. This is my personal favorite, as I like eating breakfast in the Boardwalk resort area and then taking the boat on my Epcot or Hollywood Studios day.

At least these Disney buses have air conditioning!

Now, buses are the last form of Disney transportation but the most common as so many people stay at a Disney resort hotel. There are bus stops that can pick you up at every single Disney resort & can take you to the parks. I'm honestly not a fan of bus transportation because there are limited amounts of space, and at the end of a long park day the last thing I want to do is be in a crowded bus. This also takes a while and at times you have to wait 30 minutes for the next bus.

Renting a car is a good option if you can afford it

Another option is to rent a car, you do have to factor in the costs though which can get pretty pricy. Most rental car companies to rent small compact car can be up to $500 for the whole week of your trip. However, you do get free parking at a Disney resort if you stay on property or at the parks which is a good perk. I personally think this is a good one to choose if you have a big family but otherwise, I would choose the free Disney transportation to save money. Whatever works for you & your traveling party you can decide what you fit into your budget.

What I also like to do if I am eating breakfast at a resort early in the morning that I'm not staying at is to take a Uber or Minnievan. I think this would be cheaper than renting a car (usually $15 per trip) because you most likely won't be using a rental car every single day of your trip. If you still have any questions on what kind of transportation to take at Disney World feel free to message me as I am always available to help you plan out your trip. Also, if you are interested in getting a quote on a Disney vacation package take the quiz in my bio. As always, have a magical weekend!
