Disney World Dinner Review: Mama Melrose’s in Hollywood Studios

One of my frequently asked questions is where are my favorite places to eat in Disney World? Which is why I decided to create this food series where I spill all the deets for the really great options at Disney World restaurants. With hundreds of options to try, this may take a while!

Today I'm going to talk about Mama Melrose's in Hollywood Studios. If you're looking for authentic Italian food I would look elsewhere such as Trattoria Al Forno on the Boardwalk Resort or Via Napoli in EPCOT. This restaurant is sort of a glorified Olive Garden among Disney guests, but is it worth dining at?

The best thing on the menu in my opinion that has the most flavor is the polenta cake with cashew cream & grilled vegetables. This is noted as plant-based on the Mama Melrose menu for $23 plus tax. I would 8/10 get this unique dish again!

If you have an allergy or dietary preference, this restaurant also has a separate kitchen and allergen menu as well. My sister is gluten-free and she ordered the gluten-friendly pizza which she said was delicious. I think it just depends on what you order in terms of what's good or not.

On our last trip there, I decided to get the salmon pasta with vegetables. I'm not sure if they still have this on the menu as of right now though. I liked this dish and this was a super huge portion (I definitely couldn't eat all of it!) but I feel like there's better places to get pasta around Disney property. The flavor in this dish was kind of lacking with the marinara sauce and the salmon was barely seasoned.

There's also many different desserts to get from Tiramisu to Cannolis, and even New York Style Cheesecake. If I had to rate Mama Melrose from a scale of 1 to 10 I probably would give this theme park Italian restaurant a 6/10. I love the atmosphere and the lights that are lit all throughout the restaurant, but the food is hit or miss sometimes.

If you're looking for a really great place to dine at in Hollywood Studios I would recommend Sci-Fi Dine In Theater that serves up burgers & milkshakes or Hollywood Brown Derby at the front of the park. Mama Melrose's is good, but not the best place to eat at when you have more unique options to choose from.

The portions here at Mama Melrose are huge!

I want to know your thoughts though! Do you like Olive Garden style restaurants? Do you think Italian restaurants like this should belong in a theme park? Do you like Mama Melrose?

Let me know your thoughts below & have a safe and magical weekend friends.
